Tools That Run Entirely in Your Browser

Our Subnet Calculator and Bandwidth Calculator do their arithmetic entirely in your browser, in JavaScript. Whatever you type into them is never sent to our server.

Tools That Talk to Our Server

Our Internet Speed Test, WiFi Speed Test, Ping Test, Jitter Test, Packet Loss Test and Latency Test measure your connection by timing round trips, or sending and receiving data, between your browser and our server — that exchange is how each tool works, not a separate collection of personal data. DNS Lookup and WHOIS Lookup send the domain name you enter to our server, which queries third-party DNS resolvers, domain registries or registrars to answer it (see Third-Party Services below) and returns the result to you. Port Checker sends the host and port you enter to our server, which attempts a real outbound connection to check whether it responds.

None of these tools save your results, or the domains, hosts or ports you look up, to a database. They are, however, part of the request itself, so — like the page requested on any visit to this site — they appear in our standard hosting access logs for the retention period described in Data Retention below. Port Checker, DNS Lookup and WHOIS Lookup also apply a brief, automatic rate limit keyed to a short-lived, one-way identifier derived from your IP address (an HMAC that changes daily and cannot practically be turned back into your IP address), held only for the length of the rate-limit window and then discarded.

Pingvero does not use cookies, local storage or similar technologies to identify or track visitors across our tools and pages. We do not run analytics, advertising or social-media tracking scripts.

Your browser and network necessarily exchange standard technical information, such as your IP address, with any website you visit simply to load a page — that happens on Pingvero the same way it would on any site, and is separate from cookies or tracking.

We do not maintain a separate database of your tool inputs or results — speed test numbers, IP lookups, or domains, hosts and ports you check are not stored in any database after your request completes. The one exception is the short-lived, one-way rate-limiting identifier described above, which expires automatically after about a minute. This is distinct from the standard hosting access logs described below, which do record the request.

If you email us, we keep that correspondence only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to and resolve your query.

Standard technical connection logs generated automatically by our hosting provider when your browser requests a page or calls one of our tools — including your IP address, timestamp, and the full request URL, which for a DNS, WHOIS or Port Checker request includes the domain, host or port you entered — are retained for up to twelve (12) months, as permitted under French law (Code des postes et des communications électroniques, article L34-1) for security and law-enforcement purposes, and are then deleted automatically. We do not otherwise access, use or store these logs ourselves.

Pingvero’s tools are general-purpose network utilities intended for a general audience, and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
